It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ivy May Salyzyn (nee Watton). Ivy passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital, in Halifax, NS on Friday October 5, 2018, in her 83rd year. Ivy was a loving and devoted mother to Deborah and George, and a cherished and beloved "Baba" to Christian, Hayley, Parker and Cameron; her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Ivy was thought of as a kind and gentle soul by all who knew her, especially her family, friends (particularly her longtime friends Maisie Warford and Cynthia Parsons) and several special neighbours. As a family, we are eternally grateful for the friendship of Elaine and Ivan Kendell and Melvin and Florence Lily who were an unwavering support for Ivy. We cannot thank you enough. Ivy is survived by her children Deborah (Grant) and George (Sonya), her grandchildren Christian (Megan), Hayley (Jordan), Parker and Cameron, her sisters-in-law Mary (Jackson), Elaine (Watton) and Mercedes (Watton) and numerous nieces and nephews. Ivy was predeceased by George, her loving husband of 55 years. Ivy and George built a beautiful life together. We take great comfort in knowing they are together again. She was also predeceased by her parents Harriet (Roberts) and Hubert Watton, and her sisters Eileen and Lenora, and brothers Lloyd, Melvin, Otto, Robert and Gordon. Ivy was the last of the Watton siblings. Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Corner Brook on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2 PM, with Reverend Roberta Woodman officiating. Reception to follow. Interment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Townsite Anglican Cemetery.
