Rhoda F. Gilbert
GILBERT Rhoda F. July 26, 1941 – Oct. 30, 2019 Corner Brook, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rhoda Gilbert announce her peaceful passing from this earth into God’s presence surrounded by her loving daughter Susan and other family members on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Rhoda was a pillar of strength and faith to all who knew her. She was a life long faithful member of Westside Tabernacle where she blessed so many lives through her involvement with Sunday School, Women’s Ministries, VBS and the 50 Plus group. Rhoda’s family was her world. Her husband Clar was her true soul mate whom she shared 58 wonderful years of marriage and her love and devotion to him only grew stronger over the years. There was always a “twinkle” in her eye when she spoke of her love. Her daughter Susan and grandson Hunter were the light of her life. She was always there to offer the perfect words of advice and encouragement and she cherished her many Facetime conversations with Hunter where she could share in his stories and adventures. Rhoda leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Clarence Gilbert; her daughter Susan (Jeffery) Clarke; her precious grandson Hunter Clarke; her sisters: Lorriane Flynn, Olive (Algon) Park, Agnes (Walter) Gough, Betty (Gordon) Head; her brothers: Derek (Linda) Peddle, Clarence (Elizabeth) Peddle, Byron (Cathy) Peddle and Alvin (Glenda) Peddle; her brother-in-law, John Gilbert; her sisters-in-law Ivy (Joseph) Roberts and Beatrice Peddle; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rhoda was predeceased by her parents: Fred and Emily Peddle; her brother Glenfield Peddle; and her brother in law Arthur Flynn. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Corner Brook on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from the hours of 2-4pm & 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place at Westside Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, 37 Elizabeth Street on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2pm with Pastor Jeremy Simms officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and/or memorial donations may be made to the Gideons Bible Society. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23”
