Corner Brook NL It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Robert Sparkes announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the age of 76 years. He leaves to mourn his wife, Imelda Sparkes, of 48 years; children: Charlotte Patterson (Harry), Stephen Sparkes (Melissa Layden); grandchildren: Joshua Stephen Sparkes, Nate Richard Patterson, Sam Matthew Patterson; his dear mother: Evelyn Jean Sparkes; siblings: Howard Sparkes (Ivy), Betty Seymour (Randy); sisters-in-law: Jean MacDonald, Daphne Reid Sparkes; brothers-in-law Francis Brake, John Wells; and a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Robert was predeceased by his father: Foster Sparkes; brother: Maxwell Sparkes; sisters: Barbara Brake and Margaret Pretty; brothers-in-law: Tony MacDonald, Michael Dunne; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Wells, Theresa Dunne. Robert was a firefighter with the Corner Brook Fire Department for 32 years. A visitation for family and friends will be held from Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Thursday, Feb 7, 2019, 7-9 pm; Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place from All Hallows Roman Catholic Church, Humber Road on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at 10:30am with Father Terry officiating. At Robert’s request cremation is to follow and interment will be at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, there are no flowers by request.
