Robert William Mccarthy

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert McCarthy announces his passing on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 56 years Mary (Hickey), children: Roberta (Walter Giesbrecht), Jim (Debbie), Cliff, Ken (Vickie), Donna (Stephen Lee) and Deanna (Roger Hulan), grandchildren: Joshua, Scott, Sarah, and Christopher, sister, Vera Hickey, sister-in-law Dorothy Compagnon, brother-in-law James Hickey, former daughter-in-law Barbara Milley, his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by beloved grandson Philip McCarthy, his parents John and Veronica, brothers: Mike, Frank, Nick, Benedict and Anthony, sisters: Elizabeth Tucker, Katherine Deluney and Annie Eileen and parents-in-law: James and Mary Anne Hickey. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the medical staff at WMRH for the care given and respect shown to Robert during his time in the hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street on Tuesday Jan. 29, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea parish in Benoit's Cove on Wednesday Jan. 30 at 10:30 A.M. With internment to follow at the RC cemetery in Benoit’s Cove.
