Dear Mayor and Councilors

I have just read in the “Ask the People” section of today’s Western Star, that the City of Corner Brook has allocated $250,000 in its 2018 budget to construct a splash pad in the city.  Upon further reading, I learned what said splash pad is something so people could run around in rain.

Seriously?

Let’s do a reality check here, we do live in Corner Brook, Newfoundland where there is a certainly sufficient precipitation failing from our skies to keep us wet.  If, per chance, it doesn’t, one can always attach a sprinkler to a garden hose.

I highly recommend that you change plans and use the $250,000 to fill the hundreds of pot holes and repair the roads and streets around this city.

Sincerely,

Long-time Resident and Pot Hole Dodger

Doris Butt
