I’m writing today with regards to the federal election piece on Jagmeet Singh that was carried in your weekend edition Oct. 5.
I want to register my disgust at the subheading “Juicy tidbits.” What follows this subheading is a heartbreaking account of a young man protecting his younger brother from his father’s alcoholism.
It is appalling that this poignant story, one which shows Singh’s character, integrity and family values, was characterized as a “juicy tidbit.” I’d expect this south of the border, but not in Canada, and certainly not in N.L. (It must be Saltwire’s influence).
I suppose this subhead was used in all five parts of the series? Just terrible. I don’t care which party leader you’re profiling — this stinks.
Shame on you for using Jagmeet Singh’s love and courage as a means to sensationalize.

Pamela Gill,
Corner Brook

Editor's note: We appreciate your comment and agree that the subhead -- which was used throughout our leader profile series -- should have been rewritten in that context. It has been changed on SaltWire.com
