Brian Bennett racked up three RBIs on Thursday night to help power the Veitch Wellness Aces to a 6-4 win over the West Side Monarchs at Jubilee Field.
Bennett was 2-for-4 in the victory, which gave the Aces a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-seven Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League championship series.
Aces’ Michael Tavenor got on base twice due to walks, and wound up scoring both times.
Kevin Lasaga went 3-for-4 in the losing effort, while Travis Taylor was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Steve Hynes pitched the win, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits. He struck out four and walked three.
Tyler Gardner and Kevin Farrell both saw action in the loss, with Gardner going 1.2 innings and Farrell pitching 5.1.
They both surrendered three runs (one earned), with Gardner giving up two hits and Farrell three. Gardner walked five and struck out one, while Farrell walked two and struck out two.
