The Corner Brook Barons will be gunning for the right to play for the provincial senior baseball crown later this summer as they host the senior B championship on home turf this weekend.
At Jubilee Field, starting this evening, the Barons will be up against the Gander Pilots and the Mount Pearl Blazers in a double round-robin tournament.
The host squad will open up against the Pilots at 6 p.m., immediately followed by their first engagement with the Blazers under the lights at 8:30 p.m.
The teams will all play two games apiece Saturday before the Blazers and pilots finish the round-robin Sunday morning.
The top two teams will do battle in the final at 2 p.m. Sunday, unless a tie-breaker is needed to be played in that time slot. If the tie-breaker is necessary, the championship will be decided at 6 p.m.
The winner of the senior B title will advance to challenge the defending provincial champion St. John’s capitals in the senior A final later in the summer.
