Jason Mosher believes the immaculate playing surface at Jubilee Field puts the facility in the upper echelons of baseball facilities in Atlantic Canada.
He believes the jaw-dropping experience of those who see the clay first-hand is augmented by its location and natural beauty in the heart of the city.
If you add a new clubhouse to the mix at the city’s baseball diamond, Mosher would argue Corner Brook would have a facility that would rival anything he’s seen in other parts of Atlantic Canada.

He’s feeling excited and cautiously optimistic about Jubilee Field being the wonderful facility that has been envisioned by the baseball community for 25 years or more.
The City of Corner Brook has made building a new clubhouse at Jubilee Field its top priority in its application for infrastructure program funding. This announcement was revealed when Coun. Bernd Staeben delivered the City of Corner Brook’s 2019 budget during a public meeting of city council Monday night.
The city, pending assistance from other levels of government, hopes to start erecting the new building in 2019.
Mosher said it was great to see the city come through on its promise. He said city officials have constantly told his group they would be on top of the priority list and do everything in their power to make it happen, so it’s nice to see them show the support his organization expected.
He’s excited about seeing the other partners come on board. From what he has been told, the work could start as early as August as long as the funding is in place.
“It would be a dream for us,” Mosher said.
Mayor Jim Parsons believes the new clubhouse would be a welcome addition to the great playing surface at Jubilee Field and he’s confident provincial and federal partners want this project to come to fruition.
In fact, he said he’s so confident the green light will be given, the city has already committed $100,000 to have engineering work carried out.
“When, and if, that funding becomes available in the next calendar year we should hit the ground running with a new design and everything,” Parsons said.
Parsons believes the city has some amazing recreational facilities and Jubilee Field is one of them with its wonderful playing surface. But he agrees with everybody else who has said it’s beyond repair and a new facility is warranted.
“It’s time to get it done. Let’s get this done and make a clubhouse that matches the field,” the mayor said.
