The game went the distance, but probably only really needed three innings to decide things.

The Veitch Physiotherapy Aces rang up three runs in the first and five in the third en route to an 8-1 thumping of the Wing’n It Marlins Thursday evening at Jubilee Field.

Steve Hynes was a double threat in the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League win, scoring a run and providing an RBI in a 2-for-4 effort.

Hynes also earned the pitching decision with five strikeouts over seven innings. He gave up the one earned run on nine hits, with two walks.

Brian Bennett was also a force offensively, scoring twice in a 2-for-3 night.

Danny Glover allowed eight runs on 11 hits in the loss, striking out two and walking one over six innings.
