West Side Monarchs’ Michael Tavenor, left, makes the turn as he approaches third base and Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks’ Ryan Price during Game 3 of the best-of-five senior baseball final at Jubilee Field Thursday.

And now, who knows if they’ll ever get them there again.

In a 0-2 hole in the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League best-of-five semifinal, and facing elimation, the Hawks swatted away numerous would-be kill shots, eventually securing an 11-inning 5-4 victory over the Monarchs in Game 3 at Jubilee Field.

The Monarchs led 2-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Hawks finally got their offence going with a single run. They scored again in the bottom of the seventh to stretch the game to extras.

The two teams traded a run each in the ninth and 10th innings — including a Colton Kennedy solo home run for the Monarchs in the top of the 10th — before the Hawks finally ended it when Ian Griffin crossed home following a single by Fred Prosper with the bases loaded.

Individual statistics were not available at press time.
