In a playoff with the rival St. John’s Capitals, the Corner Brook squad dropped a razor thin 2-0 decision to the eventual champions and eliminated from the tournament.
After dropping their first contest of the weekend to the host Blazers 7-3, the Barons rattled off three straight wins to put them of within striking distance of the final.
They started with a 5-2 victory over Conception Bay South on Saturday. It was a game that was supposed to be played Friday night, but got rained out.
Later on Saturday, Corner Brook got the better of the Caps in the round robin by a score of 4-3.
Their string of victories continued Sunday morning with a 15-12 win over the Conception Bay North to set up a three-way tie for first. St. John’s and Mount Pearl also went 3-1.
