Monarchs maul Aces in Corner Brook senior baseball play

It only took four innings for the West Side Monarchs to pile 11 runs on the Veitch Wellness Aces in a mercy-rule decision at Jubilee Field.

Kevin Lasaga went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League win on Sunday, while Travis Taylor was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Rob Myrden had the lone hit for the Aces in the loss.

Kevin Farrell gave up just one hit in four innings, with two strikeouts for the win.

Alvin Lafitte allowed 11 runs on 12 hits in his four innings of work, with two walks and two strikeouts.

In earlier action, the Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks edged the Wing n’ It Marlins 7-6.

Liam Smith drove in a pair of runs for the victors in a 2-for-4 effort.

Kyle Brown was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in the loss.

Aaron Purcel Pilgrim earned the win with a four-inning performance that saw him allow one run on seven hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.

Andrew Flood was tagged with the loss in 3.2 innings of action. He gave up five runs — three earned — on seven hits, with two walks and a strikeout.

On Friday night, the Aces defeated the Hawks 7-5.
