Aaron Sheppard drove in three runs in a 2-for-4 effort at the plate on Tuesday night as the West Side Monarchs downed the Veitch Wellness Aces 6-2.
The victory knots the best-of-seven Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League championship series at one apiece, following a 6-1 win by the Aces on Sunday.
Braden Lockyer chipped in with a run scored in a 2-for-3 outing, while Steve Sheppard crossed the plate twice.
Michael Tavenor scored in the losing cause, while going 1-for-4. Greg Whelan scored a run and was credited with an RBI after being walked twice in three plate appearances.
Travis Taylor went the distance on the mound in the win, surrendering two runs on only four hits, with eight strikeouts and four walks.
The loss went to Brian Bennett, who lasted 5.2 innings, giving up six runs (two earned) on seven hits. He struck out four and walked three. Alvin Lafitte turned in 1.1 innings in relief, allowing one hit and a walk, while striking out one batter.
