Matt Colbourne will be the lone lefthander on the Vikings pitching staff and Aaron Flood has been added to the roster to bring speed and defence to the lineup that includes four other players who don’t normally wear the Vikings jersey in the St. John’s senior baseball league.

Traditionally, it is the provincial senior baseball champions who represent the province at the national showcase event, but the defending champion St. John’s Capitals decided last year the team wouldn’t be travelling to the tournament because of the huge expense involved with travel since Baseball Canada awarded the tournament to Victoria for both 2017 and 2018.

The Capitals plan on being on the field for next year’s national tournament in Victoria as the provincial representative after winning the crown in 2017 against the Corner Brook Barons.
