The Corner Brook native narrowly made the cut at the Canadian Junior Boys Golf Championship after two rounds at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club in Kingston, Ont. On Tuesday, he carded a 70 — an eight-stroke improvement over Monday’s opening 18 — leaving him with a two-day total of 148.

It also bested the second round score of Fredericton’s Calvin Ross, who sits atop the leaderboard with a 138. He shot a 71 on Tuesday.

Two other local golfers were not as fortunate, with Andrew Bruce of Corner Brook and Stephenville’s Ryan McNeil Lamswood both missing the cut.

Bruce fired a 75 on Tuesday to finish with a 152, while McNeil Lamswood wound up with a 174 after a second-round 86.

Round three action goes Wednesday morning.
