Newfoundland and Labrador racking up wins in Ottawa

Newfoundland and Labrador, with Corner Brook’s Terry Gardner on board in the second position, is sitting with a perfect record at the 2016 Canadian Vision Impaired Curling Championships.

Corner Brook native Terry Gardner is a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador foursome representing the province at the 2016 Canadian Vision Impaired Curling Championships this week in Ottawa.

The provincial representatives, which include skip Maurice Colbert, third Donald Connolly and lead Bill Royle, improved to 3-0 with an 8-5 victory over Nova Scotia’s Louise Gillis Tuesday afternoon at the Ottawa Curling Club.

The Newfoundland and Labrador entry opened the tournament with a 10-1 victory over Natasha Archer of Saskatchewan before eking out a 9-8 triumph over British Columbia’s Jim Vinson in its second game of round-robin play.

Gardner and company will try to keep on the winning track today with two games on the slate. Norm Green of Ontario will provide the opponent for a 10:30 a.m. draw (NL time) today, while Manitoba’s Norman Lyons will be gunning for a win in a showdown slated for a 2:30 a.m. (NL time) start.
