The Pasadena Pirates stood tall on defence on Sunday as they blanked the Boston Pizza Knights 25-0 in action from the Corner Brook Coors Light Touch Football League at Wellington Street Sports Complex.

It was a two-man show for the Pirates on offence with Justin Winsor throwing four touchdown passes — all to Jeff Hull.

On defense it was Brett Holfield leading the way with four interceptions and Birender Wadwa added three sacks.

The Knights had a tough go of it, with Mark Randell throwing five interceptions in the losing cause.

In the second game of the day, it was a much closer game between two of the league leaders with Atlantic Industrial Projects Gophers beating Marine Lounge 21-16.

Steve Hynes threw three touchdown passes for the Gophers, two to Tyler Wise and the other to Alex Forward. Matt Hancock added a two-point convert on offense and four sacks on defense.

For Marine Lounge it was Harry Patterson with two touchdown passes, one each to Steve Perry and Garrick MacLaughlin.

Both teams were strong defensively with good plays on both sides.

In the final game of the day the Broncos downed the Whelan's Gate Gators 25-0.

Ryan Barry led the way, throwing four touchown passes, with two going to Ryan Park and the others going to Daniel Hillier and Mark Hillier.

The defense of the Broncos was led by Tyler Wells with a sack and an interception and Josh Inniss with two sacks.

The Gators struggled overall, with the bright spots being a couple of interceptions, one each by Jordan Butt and Shawn Howell.
