Bruce shot a six-over par 77 on Thursday, after two straight days of par scores, to finish up with a three-day total of 219, one stroke up on a three-way tie for fourth place.
He entered the day just two strokes back of Fredericton’s Calvin Ross and Sydney Forks’ Aubrey Farrell, who were in a first-place tie. Ross eventually pulled away with a 68 in round three to finish at 208, two strokes better than Farrell who carded a 70 on Thursday.
Matthew Bonnell of Corner Brook wound up in a tie for 19th place with a three-day total of 227, following a 74 to finish up. Other Corner Brook golfers were further back, including Daniel Bruce (248) at 59th, Joseph Cluney (279) at 69th, and Nathan Eveleigh (325) at 71st.
In junior girls action, Corner Brook’s Taylor Cormier finished in a tie for 13th place after scoring an 81 on Thursday for a total of 256. Meghan McLean of Port Williams won with a 225 total.
