Corner Brook’s Andrew Bruce two strokes back heading into final round of Atlantic junior golf championship

Andrew Bruce is just two strokes off the lead heading into today’s final round of the junior boys division at the Future Links Atlantic Championship at Clare Golf and Country Club in Comeau, N.S.

On Wednesday, Bruce matched his round one score with another 71, for a two-day total of 142.

Aubrey Farrell of Sydney Forks, N.S. and Calvin Ross of Fredericton, N.B. currently share the lead at 140. Farrell shot a 71 on Wednesday, while Ross fired a 72.

Other local golfers have fallen out of the race, with Corner Brook’s Matthew Bonnell the best of the bunch in a four-way tie for 23rd. He carded a 78 on Wednesday for a two-day score of 153.

Andrew’s brother Daniel is tied for 60th with a 169 after two days, following his 85 on Wednesday. Joseph Cluney of Corner Brook is in 69th after shooting a 191 over two days. He put up a 96 on Wednesday. Nathan Eveleigh, of Corner Brook, is in 71st spot with a two-day total of 230. His score on Wednesday was 112.

In the junior girls division, Taylor Cormier is 16th in a field of 22 with a two-day total of 175, including an 87 on Wednesday. The leader, Meghan McLean of Port Williams, N.S., has shot a 151 over two days.
