CORNER BROOK, N.L. — An exciting day for Corner Brook native, William Morrissey, as he became an Edmonton Oiler for a day recently. William, age 6, won a contest sponsored by Boston Pizza to become an Edmonton Oiler. He went through a draft process and was signed to his contract by Oiler alumnus Al Hamilton at Rogers Place.

He received a personalized jersey with his name on it. He toured the Oilers dressing room and had his picture taken holding his contract sitting in Conner McDavid's dressing stall. He toured the Oilers Hall of Fame and skated at Rogers Place. Besides Al Hamilton, William also got to meet Oiler alumnus Fernando Pisani and had his picture taken with him.

William's father Mark, who was able to accompany William, remarked that while waiting for his name to be called at the draft, William was "vibrating" he was so excited. William is the son of Mark and Jennifer Morrissey of the city now living in Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. and the grandson of Keith White and Marilyn White of Corner Brook and Derek and Debra Morrissey of Steady Brook.
