Corner Brook Royals claim gold at provincial Under-12 female hockey tournament

The Corner Brook Royals female hockey team won gold in the Under-12 age bracket at the Traction Tournament held recently in Grand Falls-Windsor. The Royals defeated Gander 8-1 in the championship game to claim gold after going undefeated in round-robin play with a perfect 4-0 record in a double round-robin format that saw Gander entered as the third team. Corner Brook defeated Gander 6-3 and 3-1 in round-robin action, while beating the host team 2-0 and 4-1. Members of the team included, from left (front) Ashley Wiseman and Sylvie Lemoine: (second row) Abigail Woodford, Lauren Pike, Mackenzie Coles, Kathryn Biggin and Aubrie Madore; (back) Jessica Sparkes, Claire Brake, Ava Saunders, Charlise Simmonds, Kate Lombard, Ella Rashleigh, Heidi Kendrick, Sara Penney, Jasmine Batstone and Maggie Whitehorne.
