Josh Shears found the back of the net three times for the Elwood High Lakres on Tuesday night in a 7-2 triumph over the Stephenville High Spartans at the Stephenville Dome.

Drew Langdon picked up a pair of goals in the West Coast High School Hockey League win, while Joshua Osbourne and Jonathan Park did the rest of the damage for the Lakers.

Brady Marche and Clay King put up the offence in the losing cause.

Park opened the scoring for the Lakers at 11:48 of the first, before Langdon recorded his first of the game with 3:06 remaining in the period.

Marche cut the deficit in half just before the intermission, with 22 seconds left on the clock.

Three goals followed for the Lakers in the second period — two from Shears and one from Osbourne — to give them a 5-1 lead after two.

The teams traded early goals in the third, with Langdon striking at 14:15, before King replied 45 seconds later. Shears put the finishing touches on his hat trick, and the Spartans, with 1:31 left in the game.
