Elwood High Lakers stage furious rally to capture high school hockey league crown

An overtime goal by Elwood Regional High Lakers’ Mason Campbell put the West Coast High School Hockey League final to bed on Monday evening at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex, as the home team defeated the Stephenville High Spartans 3-2 to take the best-of-five series in three straight games.

It was a lot closer than the sweep makes it out to be, however, as all three games were decided in overtime.

The Spartans led the game 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the game, before the Lakers pulled their goalie and scored twice to even it up, with the tying marker coming with 14.7 seconds to go.
