CORNER BROOK, N.L. — The Eastern Ice Breakers Midget AAA Female team won the provincial championship on Saturday in Corner Brook by beating the defending champion Western Warriors in two straight games in the best-of-three finals for the 2019 crown.

The Ice Breakers will now represent the province at the 2019 Atlantic Regional Championship in Bathurst, N.B. from April 4-7.

The Warriors lost Game 1 of the final 5-4, before dropping Game 2 by a 2-1 margin.

In Game 1, Desiree Snook (2), Chelsea Byrne, Mackenzie Cahill, and Sydney Walsh struck for the Ice Breakers.

Gia Caul, Kaitlyn Gaudon, Hannah Gillam and Brooklyn Childs replied for the Warriors.

In Game 2, Cahill put up both goals for the Ice Breakers in the win.

Gillam was the lone goalscorer for the Warriors.

The Warriors first game of the weekend, they downed the Tripen Ice 3-2.

McKenna Batstone, Emma Joan Major and Gaudon provided the offence in the win.

Cassidy Ivany and Claire Broders responded in the losing cause.

In their other game, the Warriors tied the Ice 2-2.

Kailey Genge and Sarah Gillard had the goals for the Warriors.

Ivany and Kathy Senior struck for the Ice.
