The Deer Lake native, traded from St. Stephen Aces to the Miramichi Timberwolves in a major trade late in the regular season, was hoping to finish his Maritime Junior Hockey League career by hoisting the championship trophy, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The Timberwolves lost 4-3 to the Truro Bearcats in Game 7 of the MHL final showdown Saturday night at the Miramichi Civic Centre.

One Newfoundlander who was celebrating the huge win in Game 7 was St. John’s native Kyle Tibbo, captain of his team with a 47-goal campaign in the books before the quest for the MHL championship.
