Team Canada had a number of Newfoundlanders play key roles in winning gold in the Masters division at the 2018 World Ball Hockey Championships.
Team Canada defeated Canada Halton Leafs — the other Canadian entry in the Masters bracket — by a 4-0 score in the gold-medal showdown Sunday in Bermuda.
Corner Brook’s Jeremy Bishop scored the eventual game-winning goal early in the first period and proved to be a key offensive catalyst by winning the top scorer award with 12 points, including eight assists.

Former Montreal Canadiens draft pick Terry Ryan had a two-goal game for Team Canada, winning the player-of-the game honours for his squad and also being named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Ryan finished up the week with eight goals and four assists.
Trent Gaudon, a Port au Port native who calls Ontario home, added a gold medal to the bronze he won with Team Canada in 2016 after he scored an empty-netter to seal the deal in the final.
Gaudon, a defenceman for Team Canada, finished up the tournament with two goals and four assists.
“It was a dream come true. A great honour to play for Canada,” Gaudon said via email Monday before boarding a flight home from Bermuda. “Our team was like family, but now we are brothers forever.”
