The Western Knights made sure to get the provincial championship they've been chasing for two seasons this year. The western representative in the 2018 Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador AAA Midget Minor provincial tournament brought home the gold after a 3-2 double overtime victory over the Tri Pen Ice in the final on Mar. 03 at the Fortune Arena. Brent Eason scored the winner for Western while Brady Genge and Nick Butt scored in regulation. Keegan Deering got the win in net. Members of the team are: front (l-r) —  goaltenders Jeff Applin and Keegan Deering; middle — Ben Smith, Brady Marche, Stephen Ford, Colby Driver, Jonathan Walsh, Cameron Genge, Brady Cassell and Brady Taylor; back — head coach Jamie Brake, assistant coach Tim Anderson, Brady Genge, Mark Randell, manager Colleen Costello, Tyler Burton, Brent Eason, Nick Butt, Cody Pittman and Jonny Manual.
