A trio of west coast hockey standouts find themselves ranked ahead of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft.

Released this week, the final rankings for the 2018 draft has Labrador City native Mark Hillier, a forward with the St. Andrew’s College Saints in Aurora, Ont., listed as a fifth-round prospect and 85th overall — the highest ranking of any Newfoundlander to make the list.

Kyle Lynch of Conception Bay South, a star at Newbridge Academy in Dartmouth, N. S., is also a fifth-round prospect ranked 90th by QMJHL Central Scouting.

Newfoundlanders ranked to be selected between rounds six and eight are Brandon Casey of Grand Falls-Windsor (Newbridge Academy), Corey Parsons of the Tri-Pen Osprey and Alex Power of St. John’s (St. Andrew’s).

Players ranked in the ninth-to-14th rounds include Kings stars Lucas Robinson of Rocky Harbour, Skylar Coates of Savage Cove, Kieran Burke of St. John’s (East Coast Blizzard), Alex French of Mount Pearl (St. John’s Maple Leafs) and Nathan Kelly of Paradise (East Coast Blizzard).

There are several other members of the Western Kings who are eligible for this year’s draft, but didn’t rank in either round.

They are Brady Genge, Malcolm Genge, Drew Langdon, Noah Legge, Jacob Oake and Lucas Park.

The 2018 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft is scheduled for June 2 in Shawinigan.
