Members of the Corner Brook Silver Blades will be sharing the ice with one of this province’s most beloved figure skaters during their annual ice show.
That is because Marystown native and two-time Olympic medallist Kaetlyn Osmond has been announced as the special guest for the show scheduled for April 21 at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.
The next evening, the Olympian will be in Grand Falls-Windsor.
It is expected Osmond will perform a program with skaters from the club before closing the show with a solo performance.
The club made the announcement on Feb. 13 in front of club members on the main ice of the Civic Centre.
Osmond recently made headlines when she and her Team Canada teammates won the gold medal in the team figure skating event at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games being held in PyeongChang, South Korea. That made her a two-time winner after she picked up a silver medal in the team event in the 2014 Sochi Games.
Coincidentally, Osmond’s Olympic teammates and fellow team event gold medalists Eric Radford and Meagan Duhamel were the Silver Blades’ special guest in 2017.
Osmond previously skated in the Silver Blades ice show in 2013.
