The AAA female midget Western Warriors hockey team is hosting a provincial kickoff tournament at the Stephenville Dome this weekend.
The team will be practising and playing out of the Stephenville Dome this year, mainly because nine of the 17 players are from the Stephenville area.
Three other regional teams of girls aged 15-17 from across the province — the Central Icepak, TriPen Ice and the Eastern Icebreakers — will be competing in the tournament, which starts 4:30 p.m. Friday and finishes up around 1 p.m. Sunday.
There is no admission fee to any of the games.
Justin House, director of operations with the Western Warriors Female Midget Hockey, said the hockey club is hoping to see a crowd out to cheer on the Western Warriors.
