The Western Kings will have to contend with one less opponent in the Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League 2018-2019 season.

That is after the league advised fans through social media that the Central IcePak, a team based in Lewisporte and took in players from the central area, had folded.

League officials said there was a lack of player commitment for the team was the prime reason for the team folding.

Any player from the IcePak who still wishes to play in the league this season are eligible to tryout for any of the four remaining teams.

The IcePak finished the fifth in the league last season with a record of three wins, 25 losses, one shootout loss and three overtime losses.

That leaves the league with just four teams which includes the Kings, defending champion St. John’s Maple Leafs, the East Coast Blizzard of St. John’s and the Tri Pen Osprey located in Conception Bay North.
