A busy summer on the bike for Corner Brook’s Colin Fowlow

A member of the Newfoundland and Labrador cycling team at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, Fowlow was a member of the Dr. Walker Sports Chiropractor Cycling Team last year when he entered his first year of English studies at the University of Victoria.

Fowlow had to apply for a spot on the team. He had to submit his racing resume and results to be considered for a team that will see him racing in a lot of big races in the United States against some older and more seasoned cyclists than he did in his first year of competitive cycling in British Columbia.

“I’m really excited. I’m looking forward to it,” Fowlow said earlier this week. “I’m going to be going to some big races and some of my teammates that I’ve ridden with in the past have also made this team, so I’m going to be with some familiar riders, and the sponsors are pretty good, too.”

Over the winter months he plans to stay in shape with some long rides to build up a good base for the spring, when the season heats up, and he will work on his conditioning and strength with indoor training at the Pacific Cycling Centre in Victoria.

He says he’s in the right environment to take his cycling to the next level and he’s happy to be decked out in his new jersey and shorts as the newest member of Trek.

He’s ready to ride to higher heights with a good supporting cast willing to help him reach his destination.
