Darren Brake and Angela Gill of KSAB Racing in Corner Brook will be racing in Targa Newfoundland next month and with a win in the 2018 Tom Hollett Memorial Targa Bambina they’ll also race in 2019.

Brake and Gill were the overall winners of the Targa Bambina that took place in Marystown in June. They had the highest ranking in the modern all-wheel drive class.

A win in the Targa Bambina, a mini-race designed for rookies to get used to racing, normally means a racer gets a free entry into the main Targa Newfoundland race for that year.

Because Brake had already purchased a double entry for both races Targa Newfoundland decided to award him a free entry into the 2019 road rally.

In a press release announcing their win, Brake and Gill say the Targa Bambina was an incredible experience and it was a thrill to win their first race.

Targa Newfoundland 2018 will start in St. John’s on Sept. 15. Racers will cover more than 1,600 kilometres of the challenging, twisty roads of the central and eastern portion of Newfoundland, including over 440 kilometers of closed-road, flat-out Targa stages before the race ends back in St. John’s on Sept. 22.
