Corner Brook United FC falls to 0-6 on the Challenge Cup season

The local Challenge Cup senior men’s provincial soccer league club is still searching for its first win of the season after dropping a pair of games to the St. Lawrence Laurentians on Saturday and Sunday.

In Sunday’s match, Corner Brook were downed 3-0 thanks to goals by Patrick Slaney, Brent Hennebury and Jon Grant.

Grant opened the scoring in the 20^th minute, before Slaney made it 2-0 in the 26^th.

Hennebury buried the game’s final goal in the 80^th minute.

Saturday’s game saw a similar result, with Corner Brook ended up on the wrong side of a 4-0 score.

Grant, Hennebury, Sean Drew and Stefan Slaney provided the goals in this one.

Again, it was Grant getting on the board first with a goal just four minutes into the contest.

The rest of the goals were second-half markers, starting with Slaney’s in the 65^th, followed by Hennbury in the 67^th and Drew in the 75^th.

Corner Brook fell to 0-6 on the year.
