Corner Brook’s Brooklyn Stride wins silver medal at 2017 YBC National Championships

Corner Brook’s Brooklyn Stride won the silver medal in the bantam girls singles division at the 2017 YBC National Championships in Gatineau, Que. on Monday.

Stride defeat Kyra Thurston of British Columbia 192-170 in a tiebreaker to capture the second-best prize. She finished up with a 184.83 total pinfall and 12 points.
Gold went to Mikayla Juricic of Alberta, who had a 191.06 total pinfall and 15 points.

In the senior girls team division, the Corner Brook Centre Bowl team of Samantha Davis, Kaleigh Au, Cecilia Loder and Helena McCarthy were edged out for a bronze medal after losing a tiebreaker 934-851 to Saskatchewan.

The team had an 845.52 total pinfall and 12 points overall.

Southern Ontario won gold with an 867.48 total pinfall and 15 points.

Corner Brook’s Jenna Leyte wound up in sixth place out of 12 competitors in junior girls action with a 190.05 total pinfall and 10 points.

Kelly Smith of Manitoba took gold with a 258.5 total pinfall and 18 points.

In the junior boys team event, Centre Bowl’s Krystian Hall, Daniel O’Neill, Jordan Park and Jamie Hickey placed last in an eight-team field with seven points and a total pinfall of 764.62.

Alberta won gold with an 850 total pinfall and 14.5 points.
