Gators beat Bees via mercy rule in Corner Brook women's softball league

It took just four innings for Whelan’s Gate to lay a severe beating on the Rapid Power Sports Bees on Monday evening.

The Gators scored 16 times to the Bees’ one to take the mercy-rule win in action from the Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League at the Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field.

Kathy Lukeman scored four runs and picked up a couple of RBIs in a 4-for-4 night at the plate, while Coolene Brake was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Michelle O’Reilly scored four times in a 3-for-3 night, with a walk. Katie Evans had three runs scored and three RBIs while going 3-for-4.

Nicole Wells was 2-for-2 in the loss, while Robyn Terry went 1-for-1 with a walk.

Brake was the winning pitcher, as she scattered four hits over four innings, with three walks and two strikeouts.

Jillian Wells was blasted for 19 hits in her four innings. She struck out four and walked three.
