Throwing snowballs is something you can expect to see youngsters doing during the Christmas season with a fresh blanket of snow — but there will be many folks throwing rocks, too.
The ice issue at the Corner Brook Curling Club has been corrected. Curlers have been throwing rocks since Thursday after city engineers were able to find the problem and fix it.
“It was a long nine weeks buddy. I don’t know why it took so long to find it, but anyway they finally found it,” a relieved Corner Brook Curling president Gary Oke said Monday morning.
The curling season has been in limbo for nine weeks as city engineers worked with curling club executives to nail down the problem.
“It was something minor, as we were told that’s what it was going to be, and all the experts were right,” he said. “They said they’d find something stupid and they found something stupid.”
Oke said curlers will get a chance to throw some rocks during the holidays and those with memberships at the club were contacted with the good news last week.
“Without a doubt everybody is relieved,” he said.
