ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — For the second time in four years, Kathleen Jean of Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville has captured the triple crown at the Provincial Women's Amateur Golf Championships.
She recorded a 76 for the low round of the day to capture the women's amateur, mid-amateur and senior titles with a three-day total of 241 at Glendenning Golf in St. John’s recently, according to Golf Newfoundland Labrador.
With Jean claiming the amateur crown, Taylor Cormier of Blomidon Golf Club carded an 84 for a three-day total of 251 to clinch second place, two strokes ahead of 2018 Amateur champion Janet Mills of Bally Haly Country Club.
Mills placed second in the mid-amateur division with a three-day total of 253 and 12 strokes behind Jean with Marie Wall of Clovelly coming in third with a three-day total of 268. Mills placed second in the senior division, with 2019 Super Senior Champion, Sherilyn Beaton of Clovelly recording a three-day total of 263 to claim third place.
Judy Gillam, Kelly Brown and Jean won a closest-to-the-pin contest held daily on the fourth hole at the tournament.
