The muddied situation around the Grade 10 boys basketball program at Corner Brook Regional High School is becoming a little less murky.

The Western Star has learned the restart of the team comes after someone took exception to an attempt by the coach to include alternates on the roster.

The Grade 10 boys hoops program at the school was put on hold two weeks ago, leaving players who had earned a berth on the team in limbo.

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and school officials, in the short time after the team was shut down, opted to conduct a review of the existing program.

Parents later received a letter from the school indicating there would be a resetting of the team after it was determined the school’s athletic policy was violated by the original selection process.

The school board has stated an open tryout process will commence immediately following the appointment of the coach.

When contacted by email, Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association western director Tom Stewart declined comment on the issue until it has been resolved.
School officials also remain mum on the issue.
