They’ve been relegated to the seeding pool, to determine rankings for next year’s tournament, but at least the Corner Brook rink representing this province at the 2019 Everest Canadian Seniors Curling Championship are putting their best foot forward there.
The team — consisting of Dennis Bruce, Blair Fradsham, Michael Mullins and Gary Oke — won their third straight contest on Tuesday, an 8-0 decision over Yukon to improve to 4-4 and tied with Pricne Edward Island for top spot in the seeding pool.
The rink began the championship tournament with a 7-3 loss to Nova Scotia and a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Manitoba, before rebounding to edge Quebec 7-6.
They dropped the next two games, however, losing 6-3 to Alberta and 7-3 to Prince Edward Island.
The team began their current streak on Monday with a 6-5 win over Northwest Territories and a 7-5 victory against Nunavut.
They play New Brunswick (0-7) at 6:30 p.m. today.
