The Pasadena Academy Eagles claimed gold at the sixth annual Tiny Titans Invitational basketball tournament over the weekend at Corner Brook Regional High School.
The Eagles edged the Eastside Elementary Grade 6 Wildcats 27-21 in the championship game on Saturday on the strength of a nine-point effort from Taylor McCarthy.
Amber Companion chipped in with eight points, while Courtney Diamond drained five.
Grace O’Brien led the way for the Wildcats with a nine-point performance, while Mary-Jane Jacobs scored seven.
Cassie Wells was named player of the game for Pasadena, with Olivia Oake earning the honours for Eastside.
The Eagles punched their ticket to the final with a 23-8 win over Sacred Heart Elementary.
Diamond’s seven points were a team-high for the victors, while Kylie McKay and Brooke Hollett each scored five.
Casey Lovell, Lauren Pike, Isabella Hann and Allie Bourne all put up two points in the defeat.
In the other semifinal, the Wildcats beat Immaculate Heart of Mary 43-23.
O’Brien racked up a dozen points in the win, while Sylvie LeMoine netted nine and Maddie Gale put up eight.
Trinity Rose had a game-high 13 points in the losing effort, while Rose Owolabi had six points and Molly George scored four.
