Alex LeBoubon believes basketball will always be a big part of his life, so having a chance to show his family and friends what he can do on the hardwood is something he relishes.
LeBoubon, a 13-year-old Grade 8 student at Pasadena Academy, is a five-foot-five forward with the Humber Valley Mountaineers U14 male basketball team under the Humber Valley Basketball Club.
He’s pretty pumped about the Mountaineers playing host to the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association’s U14 male and female club championships Jan. 12-14.
It’s the first time for the club championships being held outside the east coast so he believes the club is being afforded a great opportunity that won’t come along too many times because typically west coast teams are the ones who have to do all the travelling when it comes to getting some competitive basketball under their belts.
“People who haven’t seen me play will get to see me and the people who have seen me play will be able to see how I’ve improved,” he said.
He plays volleyball for his school and during the summer months he can be found on the baseball diamond in a Pasadena Pirates uniform, but LeBoubon hopes basketball will always play a big role in his life because it’s something that brought him a lot of fun and friendship.
“I would love to pursue my passion for basketball. Basketball could very well be my life. I absolutely adore basketball,” he said. “It’s something I love to do. I just love to play it.”
