HALIFAX, N.S. – The UPEI Panthers went 3-for-4 on the power play and killed all five of the Dalhousie Tigers opportunities with the man advantage in a 5-1 win Friday in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action in Halifax.

Kristen MacIntyre scored the winner with one second left in the first period. Sophie Vandale in the second period and Jolena Gillard in the third also tallied power-play goals.

Gillard opened the scoring and Leah Byrne ended it in the third.

Assists went to Maria Clinton, Taylor Gillis, Gillard, Sydney Lyndon, MacIntyre, Rachel Colle, Katelynn Nice, Vandale and Delaney Boehm.

Keana Oshowy from Autumn Moors replied for Dalhousie.

Camille Scherger stopped 14 shots for the win while Fabiana Petricca allowed five goals on 40 shots in 51:29. Taylor Beam stopped both shots she faced in relief.

UPEI held 2-1 and 3-1 period leads. The Panthers improved to 2-1-0 while the Tigers are 1-1-1. UPEI plays the Mount Allison Mounties (1-1-0) Saturday at 7 p.m. in Sackville, N.B.
