When the final tryout for the 16U female baseball team gets underway in St. John’s today, there will be plenty of west coast representation on the field.

There are eight female players vying for a spot on the team.

A mix of talent and ages, the group will hope to beat out some of the 19 other players vying to make the team roster.

Tryouts are being held at St. Pat’s Ball Park in the capital city, as well as the Airport Heights Field.

The players from this side of the island are: Brooklyn Childs, Bethany Brophy, Hailey Companion, Shontel Patey-Callahan, Sommer Mosher, Abby Hynes, Shilo Chislett and Hannah Legge.

Once the team is picked, the players will begin preparations to play at the 2018 16U Girls Invitational tournament being held in Bedford, N.S. for Aug. 23.26.
