ST. ANTHONY, NL – The Aurora Nordic Ski Club played host to qualifiers for the Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games this past weekend.

On a cold and cloudy morning Jan. 20, with the snow fairly dry and perfect for fast skiing conditions, the club held qualifiers for western Newfoundland.

Skiers between the ages of 11 and 18 participated from the St. Anthony, Stephenville and Corner Brook clubs.

The four skiers in each of the boys’ and girls’ categories with the four best combined times in classic and skate races qualified for the games, to be held in Deer Lake in March.

For the boys, Daley Merrigan, Isaac Blundon, Isaac Merrigan and Skyler May held the best times.

In the girls’ section, Ella Tucker, Chloe Reid, Hilary Pilgrim and Angela Cronhelm qualified.
