Calgary Stampeders linebacker Wynton McManis and two Montreal Alouettes players have been fined by the CFL over a pre-game brawl at McMahon Stadium last Saturday.
During warmups well before kickoff, McManis, who didn’t dress due to injury, got into a scrap with former Stampeders cornerback Tommie Campbell and took a punch that bloodied his mouth.
Then, as players scrummed at mid-field, Stamps running back Don Jackson was sucker-punched by Als defensive back Jarnor Jones.
It took a few minutes for both sides to calm down from what appeared to be a volatile situation well before kickoff.
No suspensions were handed down from the melee. The Als’ Campbell and Jones both received fines in the incident.
In addition, Stampeders linebacker Cory Greenwood was fined for a blind-side block on Alouettes offensive lineman Kristian Matte during the wild 40-34 overtime victory by the visitors.
As per league policy, the amounts of the player fines were not disclosed.
