Cormier put her tee shot into the cup of the par-3, 120-yard sixth hole at the Humber River Golf Club.
She finished the day with a score of 85 and the top spot in the junior female division of the Tely Junior Tour event. Blomidon’s Helena McCarthy was second with a score of 112
Matthew Bonnell of Blomidon Golf Club finished on top of the junior male division for the second straight day. At the Humber River club, Bonnell shot a 69 to take the junior male division title. Rounding out the top three were brothers Andrew (80) and Daniel Bruce (84) of Humber Valley Resort.
Harmon Seaside Links member Ryan McNeil-Lamswood shot an 88 to round out the field.
The bantam male division title became the property of Jack Pelley-MacHardy after he shot a 36 to beat out Evan Snow (45) and Jack Boone (40).
Gabriel Budgen (48), Samuel Bugden (51) and Evan Dicks (55) completed the group.
Meanwhile, Blomidon’s Nathan Eveleigh took first place in the juvenile male division with a score of 85. It was good enough for a seven-stroke victory over Evan Pye of Gander, who shot a 92. Andrew Parsons of Gander finished third with a 97.
Paige Allen was the top golfer in the bantam female division. She shot a 55 over nine-holes, which put her four strokes above Katie Colbourne who finished in second place with a score of 59.
Ava Brake (67) and Abigail Snow (77) were third and fourth respectively.
Grand Falls-Windsor and the Grand Falls Golf Club is the next stop on the Tely Junior Tour. The event is scheduled for July 31.
Taylor Cormier accomplishes rare feat and snags junior female championship
A hole in one is the rarest shot in golf. And, Blomidon Golf Club’s Taylor Cormier accomplished just that during the Deer Lake Junior Invitational at the Humber River Golf Club Thursday.
