The West Side Monarchs have completed their journey from worst to first in the Corner Brook Molson Men’s Broomball League.

The black and gold had finished fourth in the four-team setup during the regular season, but some late-season additions to the team helped bolster them for a solid playoff run.

The Monarchs upset regular season champions Investors Group with an overtime victory in the rubber match of their best-of-three semifinal series in late March.

On Monday, they finished off a playoff sweep of Western Building Products, which had finished second in the regular season standings, with a 5-0 win in Game 3 of the best-of-five final.

Cory Rideout led the charge in the title-clinching game with two goals and two assists, scoring what would prove to be the game winner just 53 seconds into the game.

Johnny Pelley had a goal and assist while Jacob Hill added the other Monarch goal.

Marc Green earned the shutout in goal.
