Victory slipped from the fingers of the Western Kings in a three-game series versus the TriPen Ice over the weekend in action from the provincial AAA bantam hockey league over the weekend in Bay Roberts.

Owen Sparkes notched a hat trick for the winning side during a 7-2 win on Sunday, while Kyle Fowler, Nicholas Crosbie, Evan Tucker and Dylan Broomfield added the other markers.

Mackenzie Blanchard and Joshua Hann replied for the Kings.

Ashton Reid earned the win in net, while Evan Payne and Nikolas Hillier shared the crease in the loss.

On Saturday evening, the Ice blasted the Kings 10-0.

Sparkes and Gavin Pitcher both scored three times, while Christian Reardon picked up a pair. Fowler and Crosbie also found the back of the net.

Riley Mercer earned the shutout, while Payne suffered the defeat.

Saturday morning saw the Ice edge the Kings 4-3 in overtime.

John Park had the game-winning goal, while Reardon struck twice. Sparkes recorded the other goal.

Kings goalscorers weren’t available at press time.

Reid was the winning netminder over Hillier.
